CeMAP study planner

Each CeMAP unit is about 50 hours of study. Tell the planner when you start and how many hours a week you have, and it spreads the five units out in Walbrook's suggested order, with a date to sit each exam.

Study hours, order and registration periods from the CeMAP specification. Checked 6 November 2026.

Units you've already passed

A rough guide: some units will take you longer than others. Sit the FRE1 mock in the last week of your FRE1 block to see whether you're ready.

Questions

How long does CeMAP take to study?
Walbrook puts each of the five units at about 50 hours of study, 250 hours in all. At 6 hours a week that is about 9 weeks a unit, or around 10 months for the whole qualification.
How long do I have to finish CeMAP?
18 months from registration if you register for the full qualification, or 12 months for each module if you register for them separately.
What order should I sit the CeMAP units in?
Walbrook suggests FRE1, then MRT1, FRE2 and MRT2, with the final case-study unit (ASEW or ASSC) last, because it draws on all the others. You can take them in any order.
Can I sit more than one CeMAP exam on the same day?
Yes. Exams are on demand, so you can sit units back to back or on different days, whenever you are ready, until your registration ends.
